Tetra is a group of experienced and talented Jazz musicians fronted by Shilah
Phillips (Miss Texas 2006 and Miss America runner-up). With in-demand members
that have performed all over the country with many local and regional artists,
Tetra exhibits musicianship that is a step above the typical jazz combo. They
distinguish themselves by delivering a tasteful, elegant sound while providing a
high level of professionalism to sophisticated events."
After being crowned Miss Frisco, Shilah competed and was named Miss Texas in
2006. She went on and was runner-up for the very prestigious Miss America
pageant! Shilah has a strong grounding in music, having attended the Denver
School of Performing Arts, and Howard University in Washington, D.C. While
there, she received educational honors in addition to the most outstanding
vocalist award. She later seized a recording opportunity in Los Angeles and even
made it to Hollywood as a contestant on third season of American Idol. While a
fantastic opportunity, Shilah knew the importance of completing her education
and moved to Texas to complete her studies. Shilah's amazing voice is equaled
only by her personality and passion for helping children.
Eymard Furtado was born and raised in Brazil where he started his music career.
In 1996, at the age of 17, Eymard moved to Miami, Florida along with his family.
In Miami, Eymard had the opportunity to study jazz at the South Miami School of
the Arts, and take lessons from the great Cuban pianist Feliz Gomes. This
afforded him the opportunity to integrate the Jazz vocabulary and harmony with
the rhythms and nuances of Latin music. In 2001, he moved to Dallas in order to
study at North Texas University, the legendary school of Jazz.
Born and raised in Dallas, Anthony has been playing in and around the scene
since he was 16. Since starting his musical career, Anthony has gotten the
unique opportunity to play with many Jazz legends, such as trumpeter Randy
Brecker, saxophonist Ronnie Laws, legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, and the
late pianist and composer Frank Mantooth, to name a few. After spending a year
in Chicago to record a smooth jazz album, he attended the University of North
Texas, where he studied guitar with the nationally acclaimed Fred Hamilton. In
addition to leading his Jazz group, he also teaches privately, plays with many
local artists, and, with his versatility in both acoustic and electric settings,
is in top demand as a studio musician.
Daniel Foose began playing bass in his hometown of Austin, Texas where he was
exposed to a variety of musical styles. In 2001, Daniel began studying jazz bass
at the prestigious University of North Texas under the tutelage of Lynn Seaton.
There he earned a Bachelor's Degree in 2005 followed by a Master's degree in
2006. While at school Daniel accompanied many prestigious guest artists such as
Benny Golson, Slide Hampton, Jeff "Tain" Watts, Nicholas Payton, Adam Rodgers,
Phil Woods, and Jimmy Cobb. Also while at school, Daniel was a member of the
acclaimed One O'clock Lab Band and can be heard on the albums Lab 2005 and Lab
2006. Daniel has performed all over the world with a variety of groups and is
currently a highly sought out bassist performing and teaching in the Dallas/
Fort Worth Area.
Music, and especially rhythm, have always been a part of Brandon's life. His
exposure to playing music professionally came at a young age as he traveled the
southern region of the country with a singing and dancing group that regularly
performed for thousands of people. Eventually, Brandon began to focus his
rhythmic energy toward the drum set, and having discovered his true passion in
life, he began playing professionally soon after. Since then he has been playing
relentlessly with local artists while studying with some of the area's most
renowned teachers. Music is his passion, and it shows in his enthusiasm for his
craft. In addition to leading Tetra with Anthony, he also teaches private
lessons and regularly performs with some of the area's leading artists.
